The college of nursing in words:

     The ideas of establishing a College of Nursing had emerged from the critical and crucial needs for creating academic nurses who have both scientific and clinical capabilities consistent with the development of the scientific and technical technology. Such capabilities can be appropriate to the need for presenting preventive, curative and rehabilitative nursing care to promote the individual, family and community health with the application of advanced approaches. 

      For this purpose, the College of Nursing was established in the academic year of 1962-1963 when collaboration was initiated between the Ministry of Health and World Health Organization. In 1964, the College of Nursing was considered as institution belongs to the University of Baghdad. Since its establishment, the College of Nursing worked hard to construct academic programs and create series of scientific activities. As mother of all colleges of Nursing nation-wide, it remains the first provider of qualified graduates to academic and health institutions. This achievement has been reached through wee-designed and presented programs and curricula.

The college of nursing aims:

General Aims:

        The college aims at creating highly qualified academic nurses       to provide preventive, curative and rehabilitative nursing care to       the individual, family and community as a whole.

Specific Aims:

  1. Enables the students to understand nursing theories and their application to provide care to patients as individuals in the community.

  2. Improves the students' abilities to follow the scientific approaches in providing nursing care.

  3. Create nurses who can provide nursing care to the community as client and aggregate.

  4. Create nurses who can work efficiently with the health team members in different health care institutions.
